GlycoPOISE is an ambitious, multi-stranded programme of research into the structure, mechanism and activity of carbohydrate-active enzymes – complex biomolecules that play vital roles in cell and organism structure, communication and signalling, and modification.

The programme focuses on developing enzyme inhibitors as tools to provide insight into the cellular function of carbohydrate-active enzymes. By addressing core questions in cellular glycobiology, we aim to inform new therapeutic strategies to tackle pathologies including genetic diseases, viral infections and cancer.

GlycoPOISE is an FP7 European Research Council Advanced Grant. The Principal Investigator is  Professor Gideon Davies and the project was awarded €2.5m.
