Arrival of three new interns

We would like to express a warm welcome to our three new interns from the White Rose universities. They have spent a month training and meeting key partners across the three universities in Yorkshire. Over the next six months in Brussels, the interns will support the White Rose Brussels office activities, including writing policy reports, organising events and managing external communications.

Kira graduated from the University of Leeds in 2018, having studied English and Social Policy (with a Year in Industry). After completing a summer internship at the Ministry of Defence, Kira is now a Policy and Communications Intern at WRB and will manage WRB official social media channels. She will be hosting a Robotics event showcasing the excellent research capabilities of the three universities in Brussels. Kira will also be writing a policy report on how the three universities can collaborate to gain a better profile in Brussels and the EU. With a keen interest in government, Kira also enjoys cooking, reading and playing tennis.

Sylvie recently completed her MA degree in Political Theory at the University of Sheffield. Over the summer, she wrote her thesis on the future of work, presented a paper at Sheffield’s Understanding Value conference and worked on a research project about the Weinstein scandal. At WRB, Sylvie is helping to run the upcoming Energy Poverty event and managing the website. She will also write a policy report about the participation of UK universities in Horizon Europe post-Brexit.

Aya Nay

Having just graduated from the University of York with a degree in Politics and International Relations, Aya is in charge of the newsletter and is currently writing a report for the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence (CaCHE). She will also be organising and hosting one of our core theme events on Climate Change.
